About BuildThenTested
Why this exists
App builders and coding agents made it possible for a founder, a marketer or a small team to ship a working product in a weekend. What did not change is what happens when strangers, paying customers and attackers arrive: the same questions about keys, data access, permissions and payments that every software team has always faced. Most of the people shipping now have never had a reason to learn those questions, and the tools do not ask them.
We think that gap is a testing job, not a judgement about who should be allowed to build. So we run the checks, explain the findings in plain English, and point to the fix.
How we earn trust without case studies
Reports are confidential, so we do not show client work. Instead, everything we test against is public:
- A failure catalogue of 54 patterns, each with a self-check you can run for free.
- An evidence list of 20 verified incidents and studies, each with a primary source and the day we confirmed it.
- A sample report on a fictional app, so you know exactly what you receive.
- Per-tool checklists, usable without buying anything.
- Fixed prices, turnaround in hours, and a written money-back term.
How we talk about builders and their users
We do not blame the person who built the app, and we do not blame the tool. When we describe a builder's defaults, we cite the builder's own documentation with the date we read it, and we state the security features the builder offers in the same breath. When we describe an incident, we link to the people who found it and say what to check.
